Lets see what the reasoning from the scriptures says shall we.
On page 95 it reads: (Referring to Daniel 4:1-17)..But it also has a larger fulfilment. How do we know that? Verses 3 and 17 show that the dream God gave to Neb deals with the Kingdom of God and God's promise to give it "to the one whom he wants to... even the lowliest one of mankind"
Who is the lowliest one of mankind? It's the Christ, this is written in Daniel 4:17 of the New World Translation, but all other bibles read this passage differently.
NIV - “‘The decision is announced by messengers, the holy ones declare the verdict, so that the living may know that the Most High is sovereign over all kingdoms on earth and gives them to anyone he wishes and sets over them the lowliest of people.’
KJV - 17 This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.
ASV - 17 The sentence is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones; to the intent that the living may know that the Most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the lowest of men.
CEV -17 This punishment is given at the command of the holy angels. [ a ] It will show to all who livethat God Most Highcontrols all kingdomsand chooses for their rulerspersons of humble birth.'
Amplified - 17 This sentence is by the decree of the [heavenly] watchers and the decision is by the word of the holy ones, to the intent that the living may know that the Most High [God] rules the kingdom of mankind and gives it to whomever He will and sets over it the humblest and lowliest of men. ( A
Why Djeggnog is the New World Translation missleading people into believing that this scripture refers to prophecy? NWT is in singular and refers to Jesus while all other translations are in plural form and refer to all lowliest of men and not Jesus and not of prophecy.
So who here still thinks the NWT is a great bible?

The Zeitgeist Movement
by losthobbit injust wondering if anyone here is a supporter of the zeitgeist movement?
it's not a religion, and it's not zeitgeist: the movie.
it's a group of people who want to eliminate the world's biggest problems by removing their root cause.

New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures
by Quendi ini know this has been discussed before, but i want to reopen the topic.
i am currently reading ray franz's memoir crisis of conscience and ran across this footnote with respect to the new world translation of the holy scriptures:.
"the new world translation bears no translator's name and is presented as the anonymous work of the "new world translation committee.

There are rumours going around that the NWT is based on another vesion of the bible which I dont recall its name, that the author used spirit mediums to write the bible, is that true?

trying to reach teenage daughter
by Aussie Oz inhad some interesting chats with my daughter today about whether she believes everything she hears at the meetings and reads in the watchtower.. turns out she does.. until i pressed on a few subjects... turns out she does not think worldly people are bad, that the wt is wrong for blanket statements about how evil they all are, that she does not think it is right that they have failed predicting the end for over a hundred years and disagrees when they keep pushing the end,.
and i find this all rather alarming!.
because although some lights are firing (and i mean that in a nice way!).

Mad Sweeney: I agree, like God speaks about other Gods not as false gods but real that his people (Moses followers) should not follow, just wanted to know if the bible contradicts this gnosticism view about polytheistic, I also read hints of polytheism on the first 2 books of the OT, but I just wanted to know if the bible contradicts with this and its self as it usually does. What im getting at is that the book of rev initially was not accepted as part of the bible and its the only book that refers to god as first and last. But I don't think we can be entirely sure, copies of copies and we don't know about these authenticates of these Gnostic books, but truth be said there are more of these books than others, Bart Ehrman also makes a good point that most of the ancient literature that appeared during the last 300 years have all been gnosticism (another way of putting it are books that are not in harmony with the 4 apostles of the NT).

Is life a black comedy?
by Joey Jo-Jo induring the normal working day routine something occured to me that has been in the back of my mind for some time.. during bible times, scriptures dont appear to have a sense of humour, i believe its because life was (and his) serious, they were very dependent on what they made and ate, life must have been tuff, no diswashers, no cars, no gas or electricity etc.. fast forward to today, we work for the rest of our lifes but confort standards have increased, we have a huge selection of foods and entertainment, we go home to spend time with our loved ones, watch tv not realising in our own little way we have been condition to think during these years, that we dont think about tommorrow-death, we can suffer from some disease, the animals we eat suffered for our pleasure of eating meat, still in our time people die from starvation, natural disasters, crimes and war.. reality bites, dont know who said that but its very true.. and while my dad prays before dinner for god to help all brothers, "brothers" suffer, die, and others still die of starvation.
if i was ever going to reconcile the bible with reality, the same question that turned bart ehrman into an agnostic "why does god permit suffering" the most logical conclusion (and while faulty)i can come up with is that god is impartial, as it says it rains on both the good and the bad.
since the bible is faulty i could go one step further and say by what i see around, that while the creation of life (plants, animals etc) are intelligent, what or who ever created us either forgot about us or does not us to know, or does not want us to understand at this time.. when watching the royal wedding, watching the priests and royalty, i wonder how much blood and sacrifice went into all that gold and monarchy wealth.

sizemilk:I agree, and also to escape from reality and then reality meets illusion.
I did some research on this, most of it is philosophy, this film director almost sounds like.., his opinion is exactly like mine.

Is the book of the revelations the only book that refers to Jehovah as the alpha and omega?, im sure I read somewhere in the bible about God that contradicts these gnostic texts.

crisis of conscience
by inbetween inwhen i was fully in, i never even heard of ray franz or his books.. after learning the truth about the truth, what woke me up, was in the first place the inconsistency of doctrine, the missing logic and the bending of the scripture to fit their theology.. personal experiences i took with a grain of salt.
therefore, even though i learned about "crisis of conscience" i did not bother reading it.
personally i did not doubt, that what he wrote would be true, but i thought, it would not help somebody to get out, because, its his personal experience, which proves nothing in the end.
